55 Gallon Mushroom Substrate Steamer

Based on a design by Myers Mushrooms, our substrate steamer is the easiest, most cost-effective solution on the market. Not intended for use with grain spawn.

A typical cycle will take 14-24 hours. Time is dependent on ambient temperature, substrate temperature, and heater wattage.  The 55 gallon model will accommodate 200 lbs of substrate.

• New 16 gauge 55 gallon stainless drum
• Temperature and run time controller with heating element
• Insulated with Armaflex and jacketed with neoprene
• Vented with thermometer
• False bottom
• 2” ferrule with clamp for heating element
• ½” drain with stainless ball valve.
• Stainless float/fill valve.
• Pressure regulator
• Braided fill hose

The included controller allows you to set the target temp and run time. It features a stainless steel enclosure, indicator lights, safety lockout, and temperature probe. The controller ensures accurate and repeatable results while minimizing electrical consumption and saving time. The controller requires 3 wire plus a ground wire; single phase 240v power. 240 volt single-phase service must include a ground and a neutral.

A 30 amp rated extension or power lead with a L14-30 connector is required to run the unit at 240 volts. They are readily available from Amazon or your local home improvement store. Orders shipped after 1/1/24 will no longer utilize the L14-30 plug. The controller will contain a cord grip and will need to be hard-wired. If you are not confident in your ability to wire the controller, please seek out an electrician.
