Huautla Mushroom Spores

The Huautla strain of Psilocybe Cubensis is one of the most important mushrooms in psychedelic history.

In 1954, mycologist R. Gordon Wasson traveled to Mexico to study mushrooms. In Huautla de Jimenez, he became the first Westerner allowed to take part in a Mazatec tribe’s shamanic ceremony.

When he returned to the US, he brought with him the psychedelic mushroom specimens. This would later become known as the Huautla strain, named after its region of origin. His article on his experience in Mexico, titled “Seeking the Magic Mushroom” piqued the interest of botanists, chemists, psychologists, philosophers, and psychonauts alike. Its historical relevance makes this a highly sought-after strain.

The Huautla mushroom has a long white or cream-colored stipe of medium thickness. The cap is light brown and broad in size. Mature mushrooms often have their caps dusted with dark purple spores typical of psilocybe cubensis spore color.

Huautla mushrooms are very hardy and tolerant to a variety of different growing conditions. This is likely due to the harsh conditions of its natural habitat. They are a great strain for study in the field of mycology as they are highly resistant to contamination. They are also prized for being prolific fruiters.

The Mazatec tribe revered the shamanic experiences gained from the Huautla mushroom. True to its roots, users who consume Huautla report mystical or spiritual feelings.
